Here are Texas bluesman Smokey Hogg's wonderful major label recordings from the late '40s and early '50s. Recorded mostly in L.A. with small group accompaniment, this is classic rhythm and blues, enhanced by Smokey's southern vocals and unique sense of timing. Of the 24 tracks, 10 are previously unissued in any shape or form while another is a previously-unheard alternate take. The cover design is an homage to the fabulous Crown album sleeves of the '50s and the booklet features extensive discographical information.
