Jones' good-timin' Rockabilly classic titled "White Lightnin'" was Jones' first #1-hit. It topped the charts in 1959 when it was first released. Ironically, Jones didn't even want to record the song because he felt like it compromised his pure Country image. Jones is back at his Country best on "Accidentally on Purpose," a #19-hit in 1960. It is one of many songs written by George Jones, a fact so often overshadowed by his incredible vocals. George Jones' beautiful, but heartrending, vocals on "Window Up Above" made it a huge #2-hit in 1960. Jones' touching "Tender Years" was a #1-hit in 1961.
