Product Notes

"We liked the way our last EP turned out [the self-produced If It Hurts, It's Good (2007)] so we decided to try it again with more songs," says lead singer Joshua Arce about Addison's decision to take a year-and-a-half off to record an album and new EP. Arce continues, "Of course our various issues made it take a little longer than we expected..." The Freeze Out EP precedes the band's album release and features Addison's epic track 'Freeze Out,' a tale of strained personal relations with a nod to Robert Frost, 'Polaroids,' which is a Japanese rock-influenced track that functions as Freeze Out's aggressive little brother, 'The Method,' that documents human departure, and the band's uplifting cover of the 1945 classic 'You'll Never Walk Alone.' The recording sessions, which took place at the band's studio at Fern Street in San Francisco, were documented over a period of many months on the band's blog on the Addison myspace page, while the "various issues" referenced by Arce were the focus of a video posted earlier this year on myspace and the band's website. Says Baptista "I decided to build a motorcycle from scratch, Josh was off stopping power plants, Nicolas had to get his green card, and Yoshi had to go back to Japan-all while we were recording an album." In recording their as-yet-untitled first album, Addison has synthesized the diverse influences operating within the band. Bassist Luis Baptista's affinity for the feel-good pop sensibilities of Weezer meets the hard rock sound of Japanese band X Japan favored by guitarist Yoshi Takebuchi. Drummer Nicolas Priario's love of rock trio Soda Stereo, from his native Argentina, complements the anthemic sound of British bands influencing Arce, such as Oasis and Travis.
