Black Sands Remixed

Simon Green (BONOBO) was born and grew up in rural Hampshire, escaping to Brighton aged eighteen. Releasing his debut album, ‘Animal Magic' in 2000, Green was hailed as one of the new down-tempo pioneers, and was quickly signed to NINJA TUNE (COLDCUT, AMON TOBIN, POIRIER). Going on to release albums ‘Dial M For Monkey' (2003) and ‘Days To Come' (2006), Green's sound grew into something lusher and more live sounding.

‘Black Sands Remixed' gathers together a group of like-minded musicians and producers to interpret ‘Black Sands' - which was one of the most critically acclaimed albums of 2010, with DROWNED IN SOUND stating it "begs to be listened to", and BBC MUSIC describing "it's an inspiring example of how, free of pressure and publicity, he has blossomed into something beautiful at his own pace". Most of the material here has never been heard before and has been gathered with assistance from renowned DJ and label-head Alexander Nut. Recent BRAINFEEDER-signing LAPALUX kicks things off with a meticulous, sensuous re-work of "Prelude." BANKS fills "The Keeper" with spooky atmospherics and COSMIN TRG re-imagines "Kiara" as delicate heartbeat-house. FLOATING POINTS spaces "Eyesdown" out and adds to the groove, while ARP101 (better known as D&B producer Alix Perez) gives the tune an electronic re-lick and DELS adds heartfelt lyricism to the original.
